The Museum of the Slovak National Uprising

The Museum of the Slovak National Uprising in Banská Bystrica was founded on May 8, 1955. Since 1969, it has been housed in the monumental building of the SNP Memorial. At present, the SNP Museum documents and presents the history of Slovak society in the years 1938 1945, with an emphasis on the documentation of the anti-fascist national liberation struggle and the Slovak National Uprising. The SNP memorial surrounds an extensive park-like area, in which an open-air museum of heavy combat equipment used in the Slovak National Uprising is built.
